An NFT collection
The pieces stay on your Pinata until someone mints. The how-to on the files step shows the folder we can read. I walk names, traits, price and royalty, and I check everything before you sign.
DiggyI am right here with you. Nothing goes on chain until someone mints, and your draft stays with your wallet, so you can close the tab and come back.
1 Say hi to your wallet
DiggyYour wallet gets the spotlight. It signs each step, gets paid for every mint, and I keep your draft safe under it.
2 Name your collection
DiggyMake it sound like you. Emoji and accents are welcome. I will write the link for you, plain letters, numbers and dashes.
3 Your Pinata folder
How to set up Pinata
Pinata holds the finished pieces until someone mints. We read the one being minted through our gateway. You never send a Pinata password or API key.
- Make a free Pinata account at pinata.cloud. The free plan is enough to start. A long mint may want a paid plan so the files stay up.
- Build one folder of the finished pieces. Each file is one piece, up to 9 MB. A bigger picture is inscribed as a chain of reveals, not one tiny transaction. Name the files the way the traits step will look them up, like
1.png.my-collection/ 1.png 2.png 3.png
This is not the layer folder. Layers, with a subfolder per trait, are for Something generated. - Upload the folder in Pinata: Add, then Folder. Set it to Public.
- Copy the folder CID (it starts with
bafy,bafk, orQm) or the Pinata gateway link. The link needs/ipfs/and the CID in it. - Put names and traits in the folder as one metadata JSON next to the pictures, one entry per file. Price and royalty stay in this guide. Do not put a royalties file in the folder. Those become the collection record when you sign.
- When a buyer mints, we fetch that one file, inscribe it on Dogecoin, and the inscription does not point back at Pinata. After one confirmation we delete our copy.
- Leave the folder up until the mint is finished. Deleting a picture early breaks the pieces that have not minted yet. When the last piece is minted, delete the folder.
DiggyThe finished pieces live on your Pinata, not on our disk. Open How to set up Pinata and follow it, then paste the folder CID. I read the file names from there. Files can be up to 9 MB. Nothing is inscribed until someone mints, and we only fetch the one piece being minted.
4 Names and traits
DiggyNames and traits belong in the Pinata folder, as one metadata JSON next to the pictures. If that file is there, I match it to each piece. The table is only if you would rather type them.
Metadata format
DiggyIf you already have metadata from another Doginals tool, try it as it is. I map the common shapes and tell you what I changed.
A JSON list, one entry per file, saved as UTF-8. id is the file name, like 1.png.
[
{
"id": "1.png",
"meta": {
"name": "My Collection #1",
"attributes": [
{
"trait_type": "Background",
"value": "Orange"
},
{
"trait_type": "Eyes",
"value": "Happy"
}
]
}
},
{
"id": "2.png",
"meta": {
"name": "My Collection #2",
"attributes": [
{
"trait_type": "Background",
"value": "Blue"
},
{
"trait_type": "Eyes",
"value": "Sleepy"
}
]
}
}
]
- id: the file name.
1also finds1.pngor001.png. - meta.name: the piece name, up to 80 characters. Emoji are fine. Left empty, it becomes “Collection #n”.
- meta.attributes: up to 20 traits, each
{"trait_type": "...", "value": "..."}. Trait names up to 40 characters, values up to 80.
You can wrap the list so the collection name, description and royalty fill in for you. roy is a whole percent from 0 to 100. pay_to is the Dogecoin address that receives it.
{
"collection": {
"name": "My Collection",
"description": "Optional",
"roy": 5,
"pay_to": "D…"
},
"items": [
{
"id": "1.png",
"meta": {
"name": "My Collection #1",
"attributes": [
{
"trait_type": "Background",
"value": "Orange"
},
{
"trait_type": "Eyes",
"value": "Happy"
}
]
}
}
]
}
I also accept file, filename, image, traits, properties, and a list wrapped as items.

5 Price and royalty
DiggyYou keep the whole mint price. That part is yours. Buyers add a 1% fee on top. A royalty is your cut of every resale on any marketplace that reads the on-chain record. It costs about 1 DOGE to inscribe that record.
6 Check and sign
DiggyLook at this. Everything in one place. I hold the sign button until nothing is blocking. Warnings are worth a glance, not a stop.
DiggyYou did it. After you sign, you land on your launch page. Inscribe the collection record there if you set a royalty, then open the launch. Once it opens, the folder is locked: buyers are promised exactly the collection you signed. We fetch a piece from your Pinata only when someone mints it, and after one confirmation we delete our copy. After that it is read from the chain.
